Russian regions will get 5.5 billion rubles to fight diabetes

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin has signed four directives focused on funding initiatives aimed at combating diabetes. A total of 4.2 billion rubles will be allocated across 53 regions to establish and upgrade endocrinology centers and educational institutions dedicated to diabetes management. It is planned to open 1,127 health schools for adult patients and 124 for children.
In addition, 470 million rubles have been allocated for the re-equipment of rural medical institutions. The funds will be used to purchase 379 glycated hemoglobin analyzers for 60 regions of the country. An extra 2 billion rubles have been dedicated to supplying portable glucose monitoring systems for children and pregnant women living with diabetes.
Currently, the government reports that there are 41 endocrinology centers across 36 regions of the Russian Federation. Additionally, 87 regions have established offices featuring glycated hemoglobin analyzers, which are housed within 863 city clinics, district hospitals, and central district hospitals. In addition, 614 schools for patients with diabetes were supported and equipped.
