Dmitry Gusev, a deputy from Krasnodar Krai and the first deputy head of the “A Just Russia – For Truth” faction, has introduced a bill to parliament. This legislation mandates that online platforms verify information regarding dietary supplements before they can publish advertisements for their sale.
Gusev highlighted that increasing violations of consumer rights, including false information in catalogs about potentially hazardous dietary supplements, necessitate new obligations. He emphasized: “Products that can be harmful to health should not end up on the shelves of marketplaces. Our main task is to ensure safety and protect the health of citizens.”
The deputy also pointed out the differences in the rules for selling dietary supplements on marketplaces and in pharmacies. In a pharmacy, each product undergoes the necessary checks and has certificates, and pharmacy owners are responsible for their products. In contrast, marketplaces are not responsible for the sellers’ products, which creates opportunities for selling low-quality products.
