The Federal Medical-Biological Agency (FMBA) of Russia has reported an increase in blood donation indicators for 2024. According to data presented by Olga Eikhler, head of the Blood Service and Emergency Medicine Department at FMBA, the total volume of collected blood reached 2.6 million liters, which is a 6% increase over the previous period.

The statistics also show a 3% increase in the number of donors compared to the previous year, with nearly 440,000 more participants in the donor movement. These results were achieved through the active efforts of specialized organizations, including the coordination center for blood and bone marrow donation and the National Health Development Fund.

In 2024, the planned collection of blood was 2.7 million liters. Earlier, in early 2023, the government approved a concept to increase plasma collection by 2030, aiming to reach 1.8 million liters annually. The growth in blood donation reflects broader efforts to enhance healthcare services and increase public participation in donation activities across Russia.
