The government of Russia is planing to have new measures to support innovative pharmaceutical production in Russia, including the possibility of financial compensation for companies’ costs after the successful launch of new drugs on the market. This information was announced by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Ekaterina Priezzheva during a meeting in the State Duma devoted to healthcare issues.
According to the representative of the ministry, the initiative is aimed at reducing the risks for manufacturers in the development of innovative pharmaceutical products. Compensation payments are planned to be made after receiving all the necessary permits and launching mass production of new drugs.
Currently, experts are working on three potential mechanisms to support the industry, including a system for reimbursing part of the costs for successful innovative developments. The final decision on choosing a specific option will be made after a thorough analysis of the advantages and disadvantages of each approach, followed by discussions with representatives of the pharmaceutical industry.
