A new bill regulating psychological activities is set to be considered by the State Duma of the Russian Federation. This was announced on February 18 by Nina Ostanina, Chairwoman of the Committee on Family Protection, Issues of Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood

Developed over the past three years, the bill aims to establish uniform requirements for psychological practices in Russia for the first time. A key innovation is the distinction between state psychological assistance and private psychological services. Ostanina emphasized that the bill places special focus on quality control for paid services, which have generated the most complaints.

The legislation mandates that psychologists must possess a higher education degree. For specialists with only professional retraining, a transition period will be provided to obtain the necessary diploma.

A dedicated section of the bill addresses working with minors, outlining specific requirements for providing psychological support to children and ensuring professional confidentiality. Additionally, the law will define the rights of clients receiving psychological services and establish standard protocols for delivering psychological assistance to the public.
