Russian First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov stated that Russia is ready to develop a joint partnership with Qatar across a wide range of industries, including the localization of drug production in the Arab country. His remarks were reported by TASS.

«We consider not only the supply of a wide range of medicines as mutually beneficial projects in the pharmaceutical sector, but also the localization of production in Qatar with the transfer of the required technologies», — Manturov said at the fifth meeting of the Joint Committee on Trade, Economic, and Technical Cooperation.

He noted that several Russian companies are already working to establish supplies to the Qatari market and explore the potential for production localization in the country. According to Manturov, Russian companies possess the necessary technological and production capabilities to contribute to diversifying the Qatari economy in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 program.

Additionally, he mentioned that Russia and Qatar have significant potential for cooperation in digital technologies, with Russian companies offering unique developments in the Internet of Things, artificial intelligence, and information security solutions. He specifically emphasized opportunities for collaboration in smart city technologies.

Nikolay Bespalov, Development Director of the RNC Pharma analytical company, stated in an interview with BFM.ru that Qatar could serve as a «springboard for localization of production», allowing access to export destinations in other regions. He noted that between five and ten players in the Russian market could engage in this activity on a global scale, and highlighted the presence of Russian companies that supply pharmaceutical raw materials and substances for drug production in other regions of the world.

«Why does Qatar need this? There is a thriving pharmaceutical market there, and they are interested in diversifying their cooperation, not only with major partners like China and India but also with the Russian Federation», — Bespalov added. He noted that Russia is capable of producing technically complex products at very competitive prices.
