Tomsk-based Artlife, Russia’s largest producer of gelatin capsules, is planning to enter new markets, but some Customs Union regulations are holding back its export capabilities. During the visit of the head of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov, an agreement was reached to work out this issue, according to Vladimir Mazur, Governor of the Tomsk Region, who wrote about the matter on his Telegram channel.

Tomsk-based Artlife is a leader in the wholesale sale of hard gelatin capsules in Russia and the CIS. The launch of its own production of hard gelatin capsules allowed the company not to depend on foreign suppliers.

«The company also plans to enter new sales markets. Some current Customs Union regulations limit the company’s ability to export gelatin capsules, which are used worldwide for medicines and dietary supplements. We agreed with the minister to work out on the issue so that the Tomsk enterprise could develop production, increase the number of qualified jobs and tax deductions to the budget», — Mazur wrote.

As the press service of the regional administration explained to TASS with reference to the company, to enter new markets, it is necessary to review the maximum permissible level of residues of veterinary medicines in food products of animal origin, including gelatin.

According to Mazur, the company’s products are currently exported to 27 countries around the world and throughout Russia. The main production site of the enterprise, where hard gelatine capsules are made, is located in Tomsk.

«The company has launched a new biotechnological complex in Kaltai village with an area of 15,000 square meters, with plans to increase the area by another 20,000 square meters. For an industry leader, these are achievable plans, especially since this year, Artlife has been a participant in the national project „Technological Support for the Bioeconomy”», —the governor noted.
