The Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation has begun accepting applications for the Start-Medizdelia (Medical Products) competition, the winners of which will receive grants of up to 5 million rubles for product development in one of 17 areas, including anesthesiological and respiratory products, devices for obstetrics and gynecology, in vitro diagnostics, otorhinolaryngology, and surgical instruments. Both individuals and companies established less than three years ago can participate in the competition. The results of the projects that have received funding should be the submission of applications for registration of their new products in Russia.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade is holding the competition together with the Foundationf for the Promotion of Innovations as part of the federal project “Development of the production of the most in-demand medicines and medical devices” of the national project «New Health Saving Technologies». Candidates that have received financial support from the Foundation earlier are not eligible.
The deadline for applications is June 2, 2025, and the winners will have to implement their projects within 12 months.
The organizers noted that the purpose of the competition is to create new small innovative companies that seek to master the production of new products, technologies or services in demand and support the existing ones at the initial stage of development. Sergey Polyakov, general director of the Innovation Assistance Fund, explained that an enterprise with the status of a small technology company can count on one additional point in the review of its application.
In March 2025, it was published that the Agency for Technological Development had issued a total of 2 billion rubles in grants for reverse engineering programs and medical device components. It is planned to further expand the number of supported projects this year.
In February 2025, the Moscow Department of Health issued an order to conduct an experiment on the use of digital innovative technologies in the healthcare sector. According to the document, technology developers in the healthcare sector can receive up to 4 million rubles for testing their solutions in seven areas: patient services, remote health monitoring, computer vision, medical records analysis and processing, automated systems for ensuring the activities of medical organizations, digital solutions for the healthcare system, and innovations for operating rooms.
