A decree of the government of the Russian Federation has entered into force, which allows for simplified testing of AI services in medicine, the press service of the Moscow Department of Health stated. Moscow is one of the first regions to implement innovations. For programs with artificial intelligence in radiation diagnostics, the accelerated procedure for state registration of medical AI technologies. the so-called green corridor, will be available at the Moscow Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine.

As Yuri Vasiliev, the chief freelance specialist in radiation and instrumental diagnostics in Moscow, explained, uniform registration rules used to apply to all medical devices. Now a simplified registration procedure is provided for Russian developments, including those at the stage of clinical trials.

He says that after developers successfully complete the tests at the center, it will be easier for them to obtain a state registration certificate and begin implementing their solutions in clinical practice.

“This means that algorithms that help doctors analyze images, such as CT or MRI scans, will go through all stages of analysis faster and more reliably, and patients across the country will receive care based on modern digital solutions, the effectiveness and safety of which has been confirmed by experts in Moscow medicine,” Vasiliev added.

The Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of the Moscow Department of Health is a medical organization that is authorized to conduct tests in the green corridor mode specifically in the field of radiation diagnostics.

In 2024, it was reported that the Russian Technological University (RTU MIREA) launched the country’s first bachelor’s and retraining educational programs aimed at training specialists in the use of AI in medicine. The development was carried out jointly with the Center for Diagnostics and Telemedicine of the Moscow Department of Health.
