Deputies of the New People party proposed to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation to vaccinate citizens free of charge with a new Russian vaccine against allergies to birch pollen and similar allergens (apple, peach, peanuts, soy), which was developed by experts from the Federal Medical and Biological Agency (FMBA). The legislators, who believe that existing allergy drugs do not provide “real protection,” announced their appeal on the party’s Telegram channel.

“As early as 2026, an allergy vaccine developed by Russian scientists will be available to save those who are suffering during the blooming season. Vaccination should be provided free of charge and shouldn’t be imposed on anyone who does not want it. We propose to include the vaccine in the list of medicines provided under compulsory medical insurance,” says the statement submitted to Mikhail Murashko, the Minister of Health.

First reports on the creation of a birch pollen allergy vaccine appeared in 2023. It was developed by scientists from the Institute of Immunology of the FMBA together with colleagues from the Vienna Medical University. Upon completion of the tests, the drug can be included in the National Vaccination Calendar. It is expected that three to five injections of the new vaccine will be enough to get rid of the allergic reaction, whereas the existing allergy remedies require up to 30 injections.

In April 2025, Veronika Skvortsova, head of the FMBA, announced that Phase II clinical trials of the Russian allergy vaccine were nearly completed, showing its safety, good tolerability, and high immunogenicity, whereas the efficacy can be assessed as early as June-July 2025. The registration of the vaccine is expected this year.
