Tatyana Semenova, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, shared the current achievements of the implementation of the federal project “Development of the production of the most in-demand medicines and medical devices”, part of the national project “New Health Saving Technologies”. According to her, 36 scientific studies across various fields are currently underway in the country, 12 of which have no global equivalents. By 2030, it is planned to develop at least eight new radiopharmaceuticals.
Speaking at the session “Medical Product Turnover: Market Development Prospects” of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025), Semenova noted that a list of 186 drugs and 368 medical devices has already been identified within the framework of the federal project. Currently, 57 domestic drugs are at the stages of development or clinical trials, 65 Russian and 36 foreign positions from friendly countries have been registered for medical products. Efforts to organize manufacturing are ongoing for 49 additional products, while development has started on 11.
Special attention is paid to innovative areas: the development of neurotechnologies, regenerative medicine, bioprinting, research on cell aging and methods of correcting biological age, the development of technologies for preventive medicine and healthy nutrition. Today, 36 studies are being conducted as part of these projects, of which 12 have no global counterparts, the Deputy Minister noted.
“A separate part of the federal project provides for the organization of radiopharmaceuticals production with the expansion of their range. As a result, at least eight new medicines will have been launched by 2030,” Semenova said.
The implementation of the national project “New Health Saving Technologies”, which began this year, is aimed at the evolutionary development of medical technologies. This includes, among other goals, increasing life expectancy to 78 years by 2030 and to 81 years by 2036, along with accelerated improvements in healthy longevity indicators.
In total, the national project “New Health Saving Technologies” includes five federal projects. The planned investment volume for its implementation until 2030 is approximately 60 billion rubles from the federal budget and an additional 150 billion rubles from extra-budgetary sources. The first meeting of the project committee for the national project “New Health Saving Technologies” was held in January 2025. It identified key areas of government support for medical innovation.
