Following a working visit to Bahrain, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov announced that Russian pharmaceutical companies are exploring opportunities to establish local manufacturing in the kingdom. According to the minister, the initiative is aimed at strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and expanding the presence of Russian pharmaceutical products in the region.
“We are currently discussing the entry of Russian pharmaceutical companies into the Bahraini market with a possible localization of production,” TASS quoted Reshetnikov as saying. The minister added that Russia, for its part, is ready to provide support to Bahraini companies that are interested in working in the Russian market.
The head of the Ministry of Economic Development stressed that Russian companies are showing great interest in entering the Bahraini market. The Russian Government is ready to provide them with comprehensive support in this matter.
In 2024, Russia and Bahrain agreed to cooperate in the field of healthcare. The ceremony of exchanging signed documents took place in the Kremlin in the presence of Russian President Vladimir Putin and King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa.
According to the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, Russian pharmaceutical products are already supplied to more than 150 countries. The Russian Federation exports 1,362 INNs (2,784 TNs) of medicines. In terms of the volume of medicines sold, Russia ranked 12th in 2024. According to Olga Borisova, associate professor at the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation, the export volume is estimated at 180 billion rubles.
