Sotex has started selling Destinil, the first domestic generic drug with INN sugammadex, the press service of GxP News reported. It is a generic version of MSD’s Bridan and is used to stop the action of neuromuscular blockers during surgical interventions. The patent for the molecule of the original drug expired in Russia in May 2025.
The drug is included in the list of vital and essential drugs (VED). In May 2024, Sotex received a registration certificate for the drug, and in July 2024, its cost was officially approved by the Ministry of Health and posted in the State Register of Medicines (GRLS).
“The company worked hard to inform anesthesiologists and intensivists in advance, ensuring they were ready to immediately adopt the new generic drug once it launched,” the report says.
Sugammadex is used in anesthesiology and intensive care to reverse steroidal non-depolarizing neuromuscular blocking drugs rocuronium bromide or vecuronium bromide in adults, as well as children and adolescents aged 2 to 17 years. It is used for the reversal of nerve-blocking agents, restoring the patient’s independent breathing after surgery.
