The Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor has developed a reagent kit capable of simultaneously detecting 25 viruses, including influenza and COVID-19. This is the first test registered in the country with such a broad detection range, according to the press service of Rospotrebnadzor.
“The reagent kit enables simultaneous detection of all major pathogens responsible for acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI), including enteroviruses, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, metapneumovirus, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), bocavirus, as well as influenza and coronaviruses,” the department stated. It emphasized that the test system demonstrates high accuracy and facilitates prompt diagnosis and treatment.
According to Rospotrebnadzor, Russian Federal State Agency for Health and Consumer Rights, all test components are manufactured domestically, eliminating reliance on foreign suppliers and ensuring broader diagnostic accessibility.
Earlier this month, the Russian Ministry of Health updated clinical guidelines for the treatment of acute respiratory viral infections (ARVI) in adults. Notably, for moderate to severe cases, the guidelines now recommend performing an extended biochemical blood test to evaluate internal organ function.
