MiruMed (part of the Mir Upakovki Group) has launched a production facility for laboratory diagnostics products—blood collection systems—in the town of Sertolovo, Leningrad Region. The project cost exceeds 1.5 billion rubles, according to the press service of the Leningrad Regional Government.
The new facility’s capacity will reach up to 180 million vacuum tubes, no less than 400 million plastic components for them, and up to 300 million ready-sharpened needle tubes—cannulas (used for manufacturing medical needles, including insulin, injection, and catheter needles, among others). The company plans to eventually launch the production of medical needles at the Sertolovo site.
“The production of such consumables is very important; they are used in huge quantities in the public and private healthcare systems, and the demand for the same vacuum tubes is growing along with the increase in the number of diagnostic procedures,” commented Nikolai Bespalov, Development Director of the analytical company RNC Pharma, on the launch of the facility. He noted that similar products are produced, in particular, by Grant Biotech from Dubna, Moscow Region.
“The annual demand for vacuum tubes in Russia, by the most approximate estimates, is about 500-600 million units. So the new production is aiming for a very substantial market share,” the expert concluded.
As reported earlier, the company Baltpharma will launch new production facilities at the Novoorlovskaya site of the St. Petersburg special economic zone in 2026. GxP News provided more details on the project.
