Russian pharmaceutical firm Promomed has launched Migrenium Neo, a generic version of the analgesic Iprafeine Ultra from France’s Opella Healthcare, for treating headaches, migraines and menstrual pain.
Like the original drug, the generic contains a combination of 400/100 mg ibuprofen/caffeine. This combination produces a synergistic effect: ibuprofen offers anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic benefits, while caffeine enhances the analgesic efficacy of ibuprofen, the company told GxP News.
Migrenium Neo is produced with Russian and Chinese raw materials.
Migraine is a common neurological disorder affecting about 1 billion people globally, with prevalence estimates ranging from 14% to 20%, depending on the source and study. GxP News tried to find out if there is a medicine that can completely rid humanity of migraines.
