A cluster for the production of breast implants is planned to be established in Nizhny Novgorod. This information was revealed at the XIV national congress “Plastic Surgery, Aesthetic Medicine and Cosmetology” in Moscow, as reported by Alexei Nikonov, editor-in-chief of the Nizhny Novgorod publication “Statsionar-Press,” in his Telegram channel.
According to his data, Russia registered its first domestically produced breast implant in late November, with production set to take place in Nizhny Novgorod.
A plant with an annual capacity of 45,000 implants is scheduled to be launched in 2028.
Experts suggest that the emergence of a domestic alternative to implants from France, Germany, and the U.S. will make plastic surgery more affordable and could stimulate demand for cosmetic procedures in Russia.
Import substitution in cosmetology extends not only to devices but also to pharmaceuticals, including botulinum toxin-based drugs. Currently, two such drugs, Miotox and Relatox, are produced in Russia on a full-cycle basis.
