Since the beginning of the year, 103 veterinary drugs have been registered in Russia, said Vasilina Gritsyuk, deputy director of the Center for Quality and Standardization of Animal Medicines and Feed at Rosselkhoznadzor, at the Pharmtech and Ingredients exhibition.
“In 2025, 103 veterinary pharmaceutical products have been registered, including 51 for small pets, 48 for agricultural animals, as well as four drugs intended for both pets and farm animals,” she said.
The expert noted that over three years, the number of veterinary drugs launched on the market has increased 2.1 times: from 69 in 2022 to 147 in 2024. This growth occurred thanks to the simplified registration of domestic animal medicines. In particular, the procedure’s timeline has been halved—from 120 to 60 days—because samples from the first two series are now tested for compliance with declared specifications only after the drug is registered.
The accelerated procedure is permitted for all drugs except for live vaccines and vaccines against particularly dangerous diseases. The manufacturing enterprise must have a GMP compliance certificate.
According to RNC Pharma, in terms of retail sales volumes of veterinary drugs (excluding online) for the first nine months of 2025, Moscow remains the leader. From January to September, medicines worth 3.71 billion rubles were sold in the capital. In second place is Moscow Oblast (2.55 bn), and in third is Krasnodar Krai (2.03 bn). The top ten regions with high demand for veterinary medicines also included Saint Petersburg (1.45 bn), Rostov Oblast (1.05 bn), Stavropol Krai (760 m), Sverdlovsk (730 m), Novosibirsk (640 m), Samara (590 m), and Nizhny Novgorod (580 m) Oblasts.
