The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) has announced the approval of a price for the first domestic generic version of flupentixol in solution for injection. The drug is intended for the maintenance treatment of schizophrenia and other psychotic conditions in adults.
Flupentixol Welfarm from Welfarm-M will be 7.5% cheaper than the original — Flupentixol from the Danish pharmaceutical manufacturer H. Lundbeck.
“The price for a package of the generic solution for intramuscular injection (10 ampoules, 1 ml, dosage of 20 mg/ml), has been approved at 906 rubles, while the price for a similar dosage of the reference drug is registered at 980 rubles,” the FAS statement said.
According to the State Register of Drugs (GRLS), flupentixol drugs in Russia are offered by three companies, besides Welfarm-M and H. Lundbeck — the Moscow region-based PharmMental Group. However, only H. Lundbeck produces flupentixol in both tablet and solution forms. PharmMental Group produces only the tablet form of the drug (TN Flupentixol-Nativ). The company’s plant in Krasnogorsk has established full-cycle production of flupentixol, including the active pharmaceutical ingredient (API).
Welfarm-M produces the solution for intramuscular injection using raw materials from the Indian company RL Fine Chem.
