A prototype of a mobile pharmacy outlet has been created in the Krasnoyarsk region, according to Yevgeny Nifantyev, a member of the State Duma Committee on Health Protection and the initiator of a bill on a federal experiment for retail drug sales via mobile pharmacies. This was reported by TASS.

He stated that the prototype, based on a GAZelle vehicle, was developed in the region in collaboration with the state-owned pharmacy chain “Gubernskiye Apteki.” “A full-fledged pharmacy outlet with refrigeration equipment, air conditioning, and the capability to monitor temperature conditions has been organized in the cargo compartment,” the lawmaker said during a committee meeting held today, which recommended that the State Duma adopt the mobile pharmacy bill in its first reading.

First Deputy Chairman of the committee, Badma Bashankayev, supported Nifantyev and noted that the Russian automotive industry is “ready to manufacture” vehicles that would serve as the base for mobile pharmacies. According to Bashankayev, the project is actively supported by the Nizhny Novgorod region, which has an agreement with GAZ, a company that already has such a pharmacy-on-wheels in its product line.

Nifantyev also stated that the requirements for mobile pharmacy outlets would be “discussed separately.” He reminded that the experiment will last for three years—from June 1, 2026, to June 1, 2029—and that any federal subject of Russia, except for cities of federal significance, can join the project.
