A real-time test system for detecting the Ebola virus, developed by specialists from Rospotrebnadzor, has been registered in Russia.

“The reagent kit Vector-RT-LAMP-EBOV is designed for the detection of the Ebola virus in samples such as blood or saliva,” reported the agency’s press service, noting that a result can be obtained in less than an hour—”much faster than with existing test systems.”

“Rapid detection of infection is a key factor for effective control and prevention of disease outbreaks,” emphasized Rospotrebnadzor.

The Ebola virus is the etiological agent of Ebola hemorrhagic fever—a particularly dangerous and extremely contagious disease that has an acute course and is fatal in half of the cases.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin disclosed in December that Russian test systems for diagnosing monkeypox were supplied to African partners in 2024, and those for Ebola fever were supplied in 2025. This forms part of the ongoing joint research on dangerous infections between Russia and African countries.
