Russian flu vaccine “Flue-M” be used for children and the elderly

The flu vaccine “Flyu-M,” which is used during all-Russian vaccination, will be used for children and adults over 65 years old, reports the St. Petersburg Research Institute of Vaccines and Serums FMBA of Russia.

Flyu-M is produced by the St. Petersburg Institute of Vaccines and Serums of the FMBA of Russia. Delivered according to the National Calendar of preventive vaccinations of the Russian Federation and for export. So far, it has been shown for use between the ages of 18 and 60.

“The data obtained during the study (Flyu-M flu vaccines in children 6-17 years old) indicate good tolerability, safety and immunogenic properties of the Flyu-M vaccine”, the research institute said in a statement following the results of the Russian scientific and practical online conference “Managed and other socially significant infections: diagnosis, treatment and prevention.”

The institute also cited data on the study of the immunogenicity and safety of the Flue-M vaccine in volunteers over the age of 60.

“The Flue-M vaccine meets European and Russian requirements for all immunogenicity indicators studied. 160 volunteers took part in each group, “the research institute noted.

Documentary permission to expand age-related indications for the use of the influenza vaccine “Flue-M” is expected in the near future, the institute’s website said in a statement.
