Most of the patients who are admitted to Russian hospitals with coronavirus are not vaccinated against COVID-19. This was announced to journalists on Tuesday, September 7, by the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Mikhail Murashko, TASS reports.

According to the head of the Russian Ministry of Health, vaccinated patients do not get into intensive care.

“More than 92% of patients admitted to COVID-19 hospitals are unvaccinated. The vaccinated that are hospitalized are usually mild cases that do not get into intensive care,” the minister said.

As Mikhail Murashko noted, earlier it was believed that COVID-19 is the most dangerous for people aged over 60. Now, young people and pregnant women are also known to be at risk.

“Therefore, today vaccination is the most direct and the fastest way to stop the spread of the infection in order to reduce not only the number of new cases, but also the number of cases with severe complications, and the fatality rate,” the head of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation added.

Murashko previously informed the head of the WHO that there were only occasional cases of COVID-19 in the regions that have the highest percentage of vaccinated residents. In addition, the official recently stated that there is an increased risk of death within six months for those who have had the coronavirus.
