The Government of the Russian Federation will additionally allocate more than five billion rubles for the regions to purchase drugs against coronavirus infection. This was stated by Mikhail Mishustin, Russian Prime Minister, at a meeting of the presidium of the coordinating council under the Government in charge of anti-coronavirus measures.

With the money, it is planned to purchase medicines for more than 1.5 million people. The Head of the Cabinet of Ministers instructed the Ministry of Health to ensure that the regions receive these funds quickly. Mishustin also instructed the head of the Russian Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashko to monitor the supply of oxygen in hospitals, as the need for it is increasing.

“More than 650 million rubles have been allocated for the purchase of oxygen concentrators for hospitals in 20 regions of the Russian Federation. The rules for the provision of such inter-budget transfers have been prepared. The money can be used not only for the purchase of oxygen concentrators, but also to pay for their delivery and installation,” the Prime Minister said.

Mikhail Mishustin called the situation with COVID-19 in the country tense, noting that over the past two weeks the number of COVID-19 patients in hospitals has increased by more than 20%. Most of the patients are treated at home, where they are followed by doctors and receive free medicines.

As it became known earlier, phase 3 of Sputnik V trials among the elderly has been completed.
