Over the past two years, the number of blood donors in Russia has increased by 10%, and those who donate blood on an ongoing basis – by 18% (there are now more than 1 million). Inna Kulikova, Director of the Department of Emergency Medical Care and Health Risk Management at the Russian Ministry of Health, addressed this matter during a press conference.
According to her, the country’s healthcare institutions do not experience a shortage: “There is enough blood and its components.” Nevertheless, the issue of stimulating the development of blood products production is urgent.
“The story that is necessary and which is now developing very intensively in our country is blood products, that is, medicines that are made from blood plasma. <…> In today’s political situation, this is a state task,” Kulikova noted.
