The head of Rospotrebnadzor, Anna Popova, conveyed a message from Russian President Vladimir Putin during the first Russian-African international conference on the fight against infectious diseases, stating that residents of Africa are the most vulnerable to future epidemics among the entire global population. In this regard, Russia is ready to help Africa in the fight to suppress existing and prevent future epidemics, the address emphasizes.
According to the president, the African continent especially needs to accelerate the expansion of medical, scientific and technological capacity to protect the population from various infections. “And Russia, for its part, is ready for the most active cooperation in this important sector of healthcare,” he noted.
In 2023, a program was launched to support African countries in the field of sanitary and epidemiological well-being. This initiative includes the provision of 10 high-security mobile laboratories, the training of over 350 African specialists, and a series of collaborative scientific studies.
