In the Arkhangelsk region’s priority development area, known as the “Capital of the North,” plans are underway to establish a pharmaceutical production facility that will leverage the region’s local iodine reserves. Governor Alexander Tsybulsky shared this information during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, highlighting the project’s critical importance in light of the nation’s previous reliance on imported iodine supplies.
“Today we have discovered one of the largest deposits of iodine waters, now we are launching a project to mine this iodine, and then – to create, accordingly, production in terms of pharmaceuticals, cosmetology, and other products, including the military-industrial complex,” he said.
