Russian scientists have developed a nasal form of anti-COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V (in the form of drops or nose spray), Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on blog.
“We are also exploring new ways to protect against coronavirus. Specialists have developed the nasal form of Sputnik V, which forms immunity in the nasopharynx zone. This drug will not replace full vaccination, but may be useful as an additional form of protection. All three phases of clinical research of the drug are also planned to be conducted in Moscow”, the report said.
On February 18, trials started on a lightweight version of the vaccine – Sputnik Light. This is a single-component vaccine, that is, one dose is required for vaccination. Experts note that this method of vaccination does not guarantee full protection against COVID-19, but excludes the severe form of the disease.
