The company X5 Retail Group, which manages the Pyaterochka, Perekrestok and Karusel retail chains in Russia, plans to engage in drug trading based on its marketplace in December 2021, TASS reports citing Leonid Dovladbegyan, managing director of the Perekrestok Vprok online hypermarket.

“Pharmaceutical sales legislation requires online retailers to have a license of at least one year. The online hypermarket Crossroads for the Future received it at the end of last year, so in December we plan to start trading medicines and other pharmacy assortment. In addition, the pharmaceutical assortment can be allowed for sale through marketplaces and aggregators. Such an initiative is now being discussed, we have a positive attitude towards it, “he said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law on April 3 on the procedure for the remote sale of medicines. The sale of drugs can be carried out by online stores with a pharmaceutical license for more than a year.
