The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) announced the positive results of the use of the Russian Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in San Marino, which showed a decrease in infection to zero. The authorities of the republic started the process of lifting the restrictions related to the pandemic.
“Due to Sputnik V, San Marino carried out the most successful vaccination campaign in Europe: the average daily incidence in the state for seven days per 1 million population for May 3-9 is more than 40 times lower than the average for EU countries. At the same time, the results of the vaccination campaign in San Marino became obvious two months after its start: the average daily number of detected cases of coronavirus fell 250 times from its peak in early April, since May 4, not a single new case of coronavirus infection has been recorded in the country, “the foundation reports.
It is noted that 74% of the population over 16 years old received the first dose of the vaccine in San Marino. At the same time, 90% of all vaccinations were provided due to the Sputnik V drug. The RDIF notes that vaccination in San Marino has reduced mortality from coronavirus to zero. For lack of need, the “covid” department of the hospital was closed in San Marino.
“The success of San Marino also confirms the high effectiveness of Sputnik V, including against the British strain, which is now actively spreading throughout Europe, including in neighboring Italy,” the fund notes.
At the moment, Sputnik V is registered in 64 countries with a total population of over 3.2 billion people. In terms of the number of approvals received by state regulators, Sputnik V ranks second in the world.
