Oleg Kostin, the Minister of Health of the Saratov Region, said that only those in urgent need will receive medicines provided to the residents of the region who have coronavirus and are treated at home.

The Regional Ministry of Health published Kostin’s video message of on Instagram. The head of the Saratov Ministry of Health said:

“Due to the large increase in the incidence of coronavirus, it is necessary to provide treatment to patients, including to those who are treated at home, and this involves the provision of free medicines. Medicines of this type were provided as assistance, that is, they were purchased with the money allocated exclusively for these purposes. A huge amount of funds was allocated… But the widespread sharp increase in the incidence of the disease has made it impossible to procure the required quantity of drugs.”

According to Kostin, the assistance will be targeted: drugs for coronavirus infection will be provided to people in urgent need.

According to the official, there are “only unvaccinated patients” in the intensive care units of COVID hospitals, so he urged the population to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

In July of this year, Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin ordered to allocate more than 2.4 billion rubles from the reserve fund to the regions of the country to provide free medicines to patients with COVID-19 who are treated at home
