According to Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, safe and effective medicines should be equally accessible to all citizens of the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).

“It is necessary to ensure the release of strategically important medicines in our countries. Safe and effective medicines should become equally accessible to the citizens of the five EAEU countries,” RIA Novosti quotes Mishustin as saying during an expanded meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council.

According to Mishustin, an action plan for the next three years aimed at achieving that goal is going to be approved.

The Chairman of the Russian government also said that in order to achieve collective immunity from COVID-19 as soon as possible, efforts are made to accelerate vaccination.

“Russian drugs have proven to be highly reliable, and their supply to the states of the Union has been organized. We help to establish their production, we will continue to support our partners and share our experience,” he stressed.

As it was reported earlier, four representatives of pharmaceutical companies were elected to the Board of Directors of the EAEU ISPE.

Excessive bureaucracy in drug development, including in respect of therapies for various types of cancer, hinders the supply of the necessary drugs to people, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting on the development of genetic technologies in the Russian Federation.
