According to Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, the Kremlin is not going to introduce fines for refusing vaccination against COVID-19.

Peskov had a meeting with journalists on Tuesday, November 30. One of the media representatives asked the press secretary of the state whether Russia could introduce measures similar to those planned in Austria, where the authorities could start fining people for refusing to get vaccinated against coronavirus.

“No, we are against introducing such measures in Russia,” the Kremlin representative said.

In Austria, the fine for refusing COVID-19 vaccination can amount to € 3,600, and refusal to pay it may lead to imprisonment for four months.

Pharmacists believe that mandatory vaccination is going to be introduced, but it is not necessary.

Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the government to prepare an action plan within a week to deal with the strain called omicron.

As it became known earlier, it is going to take about nine days to create a test system in Russia to detect the omicron strain.
