More than 8.8 billion rubles will be allocated to equip medical organizations of Russian regions with modern rehabilitation equipment in 2022. The funds will be used to procure equipment for medical rehabilitation departments in 157 clinics. The order to the effect was signed by Mikhail Mishustin, the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation. This was reported in the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers.

“Modern equipment will mean more effective treatment to patients. Even more citizens will undergo such rehabilitation, including on an outpatient basis and in day hospitals. It will be provided free of charge, with the costs covered from compulsory medical insurance funds,” Mishustin said during a meeting with deputy prime ministers on Wednesday, May 4.

In total, over the next three years, it is planned to equip or re-equip more than 1,350 medical rehabilitation departments, as well as about 130 day hospitals.

“Work is being done under the new federal project “Optimal forms of medical rehabilitation for health resumption”. This project is included in the list of initiatives for the socio-economic development of Russia until 2030, which was approved by the government last autumn. The main goal of such initiatives is to improve the quality of people’s lives and make the Russian economy more modern and flexible,” the report says.

As the press service of the Government of the Russian Federation recalled, in the summer of 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin instructed the Cabinet of Ministers to develop a program for the development of medical rehabilitation until 2026 and allocate 100 billion rubles for these purposes.

The government had banned the export of medical equipment from Russia.
