According to Russian Health Minister, Mikhail Murashko, the accessibility of organ transplantation services is increasing for Russian citizens. At the VI Russian National Congress on “Transplantation and Organ Donation,” the speaker emphasized the significant progress in providing vital healthcare services across Russia. Currently, there are 67 federal and regional medical organizations operating in 37 regions, all dedicated to this cause.

He added that in terms of heart transplants and pediatric liver transplants performed numbers annually, Russia ranks first in the world and such kind of surgeries are carried out at the Federal Research Center of Transplantology and Artificial Organs named after academician V.I. Shumakov. He also mentioned that in 2023 it is planned to increase the volume of all organ transplantations by 20% compared to year 2022.
