The chief freelance specialist of the Russian Ministry of Health for infectious diseases, Vladimir Chulanov, announced the completion of clinical trials of the updated Sputnik V anti-coronavirus vaccine in about four weeks. During this period, the safety of the drug must be confirmed, after which it will be possible to put it into civilian circulation, Chulanov told reporters.

“The estimated period for completing observation of participants in the clinical trial is about four weeks,” he indicated and recalled that preclinical trials of the Sputnik V drug with a new antigenic composition were completed successfully.

“At the same time, I would like to note that at present the country is not experiencing an active increase in morbidity and, what is especially important, a significant increase in the number of hospitalizations,” added Vladimir Chulanov. Let us remind you: Sputnik V clinical trials are carried out jointly with the Moscow Department of Health on the basis of two Moscow clinics and the First Moscow State Medical University named after.
