At the VIII annual forum Biotechmed, Deputy Minister of Health Tatyana Semenova emphasized that the doctor-to-population ratio in Russia stands at 50 doctors per 10,000 individuals.

“If we count all the doctors working both in regional and federal healthcare systems, as well as in private clinics, then on average there will be 50.8 doctors per 10 thousand population. This is a very large figure, and this figure is growing,” she said.

The key problem of medical personnel, according to her, is personnel imbalance. To resolve this issue, the Ministry of Health is implementing a set of measures to provide the industry with qualified personnel. These measures relate to school and university training, employment and retention of workers in the workplace, she noted. So, for example, to attract specialists to the regions, measures are being implemented to develop targeted training, preferential housing programs and various incentive payments.
