By the end of 2022, the collective sales volume of dietary supplements reached an impressive 120 billion rubles, encompassing all distribution channels, including e-commerce. This was announced by the executive director of the SRO “Union of Dietary Supplement Manufacturers” Alexander Zhestkov during the VIII annual forum “Biotechmed”, which takes place on October 9-10 in Sochi.
“The dietary supplement market has been growing at double-digit rates year on year since 2018. This trend began to take shape even before the pandemic. At the end of 2019, the growth in market volumes was 18%. Until 2022, it grew steadily at around 20%. The pandemic became a catalyst for the development of the dietary supplement segment. When the Ministry of Health and Rospotrebnadzor (The Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing) issued recommendations for disease prevention with vitamin C and D, there were incredible sales figures in these product categories. Now we are seeing more demand for dietary supplements in the anti-stress category, complex vitamins for men, women and monovitamins,” he noted.
