Russian Health Ministry creates Center for Information Security and Import Substitution

The Ministry of Health of Russia held a meeting with developers to discuss import substitution of mobile devices. At a meeting chaired by Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Pavel Pugachev, it became known about the creation of the Center for Information Security and Import Substitution. The Deputy Minister also added that meetings in this format are planned to be held regularly.
“Today, more than 55 thousand medical organizations have already switched to using medical information systems that transmit information about created electronic medical documents to the federal register. Including information at the federal level comes from 24 thousand paramedic and obstetric stations. In Russia, the volume of medical data in electronic form is growing exponentially. If in 2019 349 million electronic medical documents were registered during the year, in 10 months of 2023 840 million documents were registered. And the data becomes more and more every day,” said Pavel Pugachev.
Information systems in healthcare are critical to national security. Russia is creating a Center for Information Security and Import Substitution to ensure self-reliance. Pavel Pugachev stated that this center will support cybersecurity projects and coordinate import substitution efforts.
“The Ministry, on the basis of the industry Center for Information Security and Import Substitution, will coordinate all market participants to implement this task until 2025,” said the Deputy Minister of Health.
