Rosatom will develop medical nuclear technologies together with partners from China. Health Technologies (Rosatom division) and Chinese companies China Isotope & Radiation Corporation, and CNNC Medical Industry Co. about this. We agreed on the sidelines of the Atomexpo 2024 forum.
Particular attention is planned to be paid to interaction in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer using peaceful nuclear technologies. The parties aim to collaborate on projects to develop and produce radiopharmaceuticals, advance equipment for nuclear medicine, train personnel for medical centers and radiopharmaceutical enterprises, and establish medical infrastructure facilities.
Moreover, Rusatom Service JSC and the Chinese company CNNC forged a contract for service support of four power units at the Tianwan NPP. Tianwan NPP is the largest facility of Russian-Chinese economic cooperation.
During Atomexpo 2024, agreements were also reached on the implementation of joint projects in the field of nuclear technologies in medicine, including for the treatment of cancer, with Hungary and Serbia. Joint steps in this direction have already been planned – for example, in 2025 in Serbia, with the assistance of the Russian state corporation Rosatom, the construction of a center for peaceful atom research should begin.
“Serbia does not use nuclear energy, but it has made significant progress in the field of nuclear medicine, and since Hungary is a regional leader in the fight against cancer, and Russia is a world leader in the use of nuclear technology in medicine, we agreed on a trilateral Hungarian-Serbian- Russian cooperation,” said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Economic Relations of Hungary, Peter Szijjártó.
