Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree “On the national development goals of the Russian Federation for the period until 2030 and for the future until 2036.” It lists indicators, the achievement of which is necessary in order to ensure “sustainable economic and social development” of the country, “strengthening state, cultural, value and economic sovereignty, increasing the country’s population and improving the standard of living of citizens.”
One of the main priorities in the health sector is to increase life expectancy to 78 years by 2030 and to 81 years by 2036. In order to achieve these goals, by September 1, 2024, the government has been instructed to prepare provisions for a new national project – “Long and Active Life.” Putin announced the emergence of such a national project in February 2024.
