Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that he will support the implementation of a project to establish an Eye Tissue Bank in Vietnam, similar to the one already in operation at the Fyodorov Eye Microsurgery Federal State Institution.
The possibility of establishing a bank in Vietnam was discussed during a meeting between the Russian President and his Vietnamese counterpart, To Lam, with graduates of Soviet and Russian universities in Hanoi. It was noted that currently many Vietnamese citizens are going blind from corneal disease. “I will do everything to help you and create such a bank,” Putin said.
The Russian Health Minister, Mikhail Murashko, emphasized that Russia possesses high expertise in producing medical devices for treating ophthalmic diseases. This expertise could contribute to the establishment of an Eye Tissue Bank in Vietnam.
