Russian manufacturers of veterinary drugs have announced a large-scale expansion of their product line for pets. “Nita-Pharma” aims to expand its range from 18 to 50 items by 2026, according to director Oleg Zhukov.
Experts note that the main catalyst for the development of this market segment is the growing number of pets in Russia, as well as a change in attitude towards them – more and more people perceive pets as full-fledged family members. Over the past decade, the population of pets in the country has doubled, which is accompanied by an increase in the cost of their maintenance and veterinary care.
According to Nikolay Shestakov, Marketing Director of VIK Group, Russia ranks third in the world in the number of cats and fourth in the number of dogs. However, only 20% of pets receive regular veterinary care, which indicates significant potential for market growth. In this regard, VIK Group also plans to expand its product range to more than 50 drugs by 2026, having already begun this process with the release of four new generics for small pets earlier this year.
