The Russian Ministry of Health has initiated a review of its drug storage regulations, with a new draft order open for public discussion until March 6. This new document, set to replace the existing rules from 2010, is expected to be implemented on September 1, 2023, and will govern practices until 2031.
Under the proposed regulations, organizations involved in the distribution of medications must establish a comprehensive system of standard operating procedures for all storage phases. The draft emphasizes the need for responsible personnel to oversee quality control and the clear zoning of storage facilities according to their functions. Additionally, the document outlines requirements for modern climate control systems and daily monitoring of temperature and humidity, along with specific protocols for storing sensitive medications such as narcotics and psychotropic substances.
