The Russian government has approved a new scheme for the territorial planning of medical facilities. The press service of the Cabinet of Ministers announced that the existing document has “become outdated and no longer aligns with the ongoing or planned measures for developing healthcare infrastructure.”

The document was developed in consideration of Russia’s Spatial Development Strategy up to 2030, with a forecast extending to 2036, aiming to “enhance the accessibility of medical care, including high-technology assistance.”

The updated scheme encompasses 136 medical organizations slated for reconstruction and construction across all eight federal districts. These are multidisciplinary hospitals and outpatient clinics for adults and children, rehabilitation centers, oncology dispensaries, and new buildings for existing medical institutions that will serve as bases for providing high-technology care. The plan also includes the establishment of research centers and production sites for manufacturing medical devices and high-technology pharmaceutical drugs.

The amount of funding for implementing the plan will be determined during the preparation of the draft federal budget for the upcoming financial year and the planning period.
