The 2nd International Forum of Pharmaceutical Inspectorates (IFPI) has opened in the United Arab Emirates. The forum, which brings together representatives of regulatory authorities and pharmaceutical manufacturers from more than 50 countries, including Russia, which is serving as co-chair of the event’s organizing committee for the second year, will run from November 24 to 25 in Abu Dhabi.

Leading experts in Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) will discuss priority areas of global pharmaceutical industry regulation. The agenda includes harmonizing regulatory requirements for drug manufacturing and ensuring their quality at a global level.

The Russian delegation at the forum includes representatives from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Federal State Budgetary Institution SID & GP (State Institute of Drugs and Good Practices).

The IFPI program includes plenary sessions and panel discussions dedicated to current issues of GMP regulation. In particular, an exchange of experiences on harmonizing regulatory requirements for drug manufacturing and on approaches to the mutual recognition of GMP inspection results is planned. Over the two days, mechanisms for inspecting biological medicines, including vaccines and innovative bioproducts, will be discussed, as well as issues of ensuring the availability of modern medicines within the healthcare systems of different countries.

One of the key topics will be building trust between regulators regarding the issuance of GMP certificates and the exchange of information on inspection results.

“Interaction between regulatory authorities leads to increased availability of high-quality, safe, and effective medicines, while simultaneously increasing the transparency of regulatory mechanisms. Joint projects, the strengthening of professional cooperation, and participation in shared expert platforms are the foundation that will contribute to ensuring patient safety both in Russia and worldwide,” emphasized Vladislav Shestakov, Director of the SID & GP.

“Where the World Unites for Patient Safety” is the forum’s motto, reflecting the participants’ shared mission to ensure the availability of quality medicines for patients in all countries.
