The Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) plans to create a site for the production of biological preparations on its base within the next two years. This was announced in an interview with TASS by the director of the university’s Advanced Engineering School, Lyudmila Tekuteva.

“The variety of developments, technologies already created and being created, has made it necessary of establishing a contract GMP site at the university for the biotechnological production of drugs for treating diseases. Students and scientists will be able to work on this site on developing new biological preparations and producing ready-made pharmaceutical substances,” she said, noting that there is currently no such site in the country.

According to Tekuteva, the second key task is the organization of a certified GLP vivarium for preclinical research. “A certified vivarium will allow conducting research not only for scientific purposes; they can be recognized by the Ministry of Health and Rospotrebnadzor when registering new products — biologically active substances, medicinal drugs, functional or dietary products, therapeutic nutrition,” the expert explained.
