The share of veterinary drugs of Russian production in the domestic market reached 72.6%. This was announced by the head of Rosselkhoznadzor, Sergey Dankvert, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“A while ago, about 30% of veterinary medicines in Russia were Russian-made, but now the share is already 72.6%. Although the rest is imports, we can substitute them as well, focusing on improving quality and safety,” — the government press service reports Dankvert as saying. Mishustin noted the growing global interest in veterinary vaccines, especially in CIS countries, and instructed to keep their registration under control, paying particular attention to quality.
Dankvert also spoke about the growth in the production of pet foods. According to him, this year Russia exported for the first time 100,000 tons of these products, whereas previously it imported 150,000 tons. “Since 2023, new factories have been built in six regions — Tula, Moscow, Lipetsk, Tambov regions, Krasnodar Krai, and Mordovia — and 71 new productions have been opened,” he noted.
According to Rosselkhoznadzor, in 2024, the share of Russian veterinary vaccines on the domestic market exceeded 67%, increasing by 15% over the year. In March 2025, the government allocated 5 billion rubles for the creation of domestic veterinary drugs.
