The best-selling medicine in Russia in 2025 was a xylometazoline-based nasal decongestant — over 200 million packages, reports RIA Novosti, citing the Center for Advanced Technology Development (CRPT), operator of the “Chestny ZNAK” (Honest Sign) marking system.

“The absolute leader in terms of the number of packages sold was the xylometazoline-based nasal decongestant — 220 million units. This is more than double the sales of the second-place analgesic and antipyretic ibuprofen — 100 million packages,” the Center reported. Third place was taken by the heartburn medication omeprazole (98 million packages), fourth by the cardiovascular drug bisoprolol (70 million), and fifth by a combined cold remedy based on acetylsalicylic acid (68 million). “The total revenue for the five best-selling items amounted to approximately 77 billion rubles,” the Center specified.

At the same time, sales dynamics within the group vary significantly. Demand for ibuprofen increased by 6% year-on-year, while sales of the combination cold remedy declined by 8%. The total sales volume of domestically produced medicines among the top five decreased by 12%, and that of imported products fell by 16%. The majority of top-five sales were concentrated in Moscow and the Moscow region — over 80 million packages.

Earlier, the Center presented a list of the best-selling dietary supplements of the past year.
