Russia’s list of cardiology drugs has been expanded by 386 items over the past five years, with more than 85% of them produced domestically, Alexander Lozhkin, head of the drug supply department at the Russian Health Ministry’s medicines regulation division, told the 5th All‑Russian Expert Forum “Cardiovascular Diseases and Life Expectancy”.
“Over the past five years, our arsenal of drugs for treating cardiovascular diseases has been expanded by 386 items, of which 324 drugs – more than 85% – are domestically produced,” TASS quoted Lozhkin as saying.
The Health Ministry, together with the Industry and Trade Ministry, continues to work in this area, Lozhkin said. In the first quarter of 2026 alone, four new cardiology drugs were registered. Domestic products are also actively used in clinical trials, with their share now reaching 61%, he noted.
Health Minister Mikhail Murashko said earlier that Russian healthcare must continue working to ensure technological independence and import substitution by developing new drugs. It is necessary to strengthen drug supply and introduce modern technologies into drug development and manufacturing, he said.
